Asteria

Daughter of Coeus and Phoebe, sister of Leto, and Titaness of falling stars and nocturnal prophecy. Fleeing the amorous pursuit of Zeus she leapt into the sea as a quail and became the floating island Ortygia, identified in the later tradition with Delos — and so became the very land that received her sister Leto in childbirth. By Perses she bore Hecate, who in Hesiod's hymn surpasses every other goddess in honour.
