Princess of Colchis, daughter of King Aeetes and granddaughter of Helios, priestess of Hecate's dark art. Struck by Eros's arrow when Jason appeared at her father's court, she gave him the unguent of invulnerability for the fire-bulls, told him to throw a stone among the earth-born warriors, and lulled the Fleece-guarding serpent — at the cost of her brother Apsyrtus's life. At Corinth, set aside for Glauce, she sent the bride a poisoned dress and the king with her, then killed her own two children by Jason to deny him posterity, and fled on a chariot of dragons given her by the Sun.
