Aeëtes

King of Colchis at the eastern edge of the Black Sea, son of Helios and the Oceanid Perseis. He kept the Golden Fleece in a sacred grove guarded by a sleepless dragon and set Jason impossible tasks to win it. His daughter Medea, falling in love with Jason, betrayed her father and fled with the Argonauts.
