Triton
Minor DeitySea, Trumpets
Sea-god, son of Poseidon and Amphitrite, half man and half fish, who blew on a great spiral conch to raise or calm the waves. He appeared to the Argonauts at Lake Tritonis in the Libyan interior, took the shape of a young man named Eurypylus to greet them, and gave Euphemus a clod of earth as a guest-gift — the seed, generations later, of the foundation of Cyrene.
