Polyphemus

One-eyed shepherd Cyclops of Sicily, son of Poseidon and the sea-nymph Thoosa. Odysseus and twelve of his men entered his cave and were trapped there until Odysseus blinded the giant with a heated olive stake and escaped under the bellies of his rams. Polyphemus's curse — that Odysseus reach home alone, late, on a foreign ship, to find sorrow in his house — was carried out in full by his father Poseidon.
