Alcinous

King of the Phaeacians on Scheria, husband of wise Arete and father of Nausicaa. He received the shipwrecked Odysseus in his palace, listened to the whole tale of his wanderings over a banquet, and ordered a Phaeacian ship to carry him home to Ithaca by night while he slept. A generation earlier he had ruled, with his queen, on the same Argonautic verdict that gave Medea to Jason.
