Winged son of Boreas the North Wind by Oreithyia of Athens, brother of Calais, Argonaut. At Salmydessus, when the Argonauts found the seer Phineus starving under the Harpies' torment, the two Boreads rose on their dark wings and drove the foul women far across the sea until they dropped exhausted at the Strophades islands, where Iris turned them back — but not before Phineus was freed (Apollonius *Argonautica* 2.234-300).
