Talos

Bronze giant of Crete, the first automaton in Greek myth, forged by Hephaestus and given by Zeus to King Minos to guard the island. Three times each day he walked the entire coastline on tireless legs and hurled rocks at any approaching ship. A single vein ran from his neck to his ankle, sealed in the Apollonian tradition by a thin membrane of skin and in the Apollodoran by a bronze nail; when Medea worked her spell on him at the Argo's arrival, the seal failed and his ichor poured out like molten lead.
