Scylla

Six-headed monster of the Italian cliff at the strait between Italy and Sicily. Each of her six long necks ended in a dog-headed mouth full of triple rows of teeth, and from her cave high above the water she snatched dolphins, sharks, and passing sailors. Originally a beautiful nymph, in Ovid's version she was transformed by the jealous sorceress Circe; Homer simply names her a monster from the start.
