Perseus

Son of Zeus, who entered the bronze chamber of Danaë as a shower of gold to evade Acrisius's prophecy. Shut up at sea in a chest with his mother and rescued by Dictys on Seriphos, he grew up there until King Polydectes demanded the Gorgon's head as a wedding-gift. Aided by Athena's polished shield, Hermes's harpe-sword, and the cap of invisibility from Hades, he beheaded the sleeping Medusa, rescued Andromeda from the sea-monster at Joppa, and later founded Mycenae — through his line of Perseids came Heracles himself.
