HeroHeroism, Marriage

King of Phthia, brother of Telamon, Argonaut, and one of the few mortals to wed an immortal bride. He wrestled the Nereid Thetis into submission as she shifted through every shape — fire, water, lion, serpent — and won her as his wife. Their wedding, celebrated by all the gods on Mount Pelion, ended in the Judgement of Paris and so became the seed of the Trojan War. Their son was Achilles.
