Notus

God of the South Wind, the hot, storm-bringing wind of late summer that carries the rains and the blight. With Boreas and Zephyrus he is a son of Astraeus and Eos, the Dawn (Hes. *Theog.* 378–380). Where Boreas is the cold blast from the north, Notus is the damp, heavy gale from the south, dreaded by sailors and farmers alike for the squalls and fogs it drives before it.
