Eunomia

Minor DeityHora of Good Order and Lawful Conduct

One of the three Horai (Seasons), daughters of Zeus and the Titaness Themis in Hesiod, sisters of the Moirai (Hes. *Theog.* 901–906). Her name means 'good order' or 'good governance' — the civic virtue of a community that keeps just laws. The Horai both regulate the turning seasons of the agricultural year and, in their moral aspect, personify the order on which human society depends: Eunomia (Good Order), Dike (Justice), and Eirene (Peace). The Athenians and other cities honoured them as guardians of the city's flourishing.

Origin

Daughter of Zeus and the Titaness Themis (Hes. Theog. 901-906); one of the three Horai, sisters of the Moirai.
