Eros

The cosmogonic force of attraction, born alongside Gaia and Tartarus from primordial Chaos in Hesiod — the principle that draws together what is scattered and so makes generation possible. Distinct from the winged child-Eros, son of Aphrodite and Ares, of later poetic tradition; the elder Eros has no parents and no myth, only a function in the order of becoming.
